ending summer

It has been a great summer! sadly, summer is ending :( I have had the time of my  life from
shopping, to thrills, to activity, and most importantly sending time with my family and friends.

summer

Most of my summer I was visiting my family in Iowa.  We had so much fun! I visited cousins,
aunts, uncles, my gramma especially. We went on trips, had crazy new experiences, got stranded in
the middle of the Mississippi, but also a nice family trip. The best part was when my whole family was together on the 3rd of july. We had burgers, dogs, and mac n' cheese (Kraft of course). me and my cousin jack made a yummy pie! Later while the grownups sat on the deck and yapped, me and my cousins started a bond fire. it was made out of card board, sparklers, sticks, and icky smelling plastic.
( OHHHH! Now i get why daddy tells me, " Don't put plastic in the fire! " It reeks.)

      Well, i had a fun time in ol' dubuque, Iowa, I will miss everyone...

mother underground

Recently I went to a writing workshop for my neighbor, Rachel Pollock.  The whole 4 days we were studying the play she originally wrote, Mother Underground. An eventful realistic fiction about a runaway slave named Sophia who leads her journey to a safehouse owned by Ms. Frances Youngblood, a willing soul. While Sophia stays with Frances, Frances teaches her how to sew, and be courageous. 
                     After a few days we started a sequel to the story called On the Run. Sophia finally leaves on her way to Canada, freedom. On the way she runs into anxious dogs, nasty pedestrians, and another safehouse which leads her to freedom.
                    I really enjoyed working on this story for several reasons.
Here are a few

• We got to make new friends
• I learned about how people treated others unfairly.
• We expressed how we feel about treating others the way they want to be treated.

cedar point

this sunday I am going to cedar point to meet my uncle charlie and my cousin jack!
      if you don't know what cedar point is, it is a roller coaster park with some of the biggest roller
coasters in the world!    it has a lake RIGHT by it and has 3 pools and 1 water park and a spa!
   it will be so fun!  i will get a rollaway bed.

banana peel

Ok, so I just went to a restaurant called " The Banana Peel ". Great food and such but I like had the BEST ice cream ever! It was called mint chocolate chip. A lot of people like this flavor but i a crazy about  it. So here is me showing you that I LOVE it.

Never before

My good friend Alice fox has come over for a Sleep over. We will eat, play, and have fun. She has never been to my house for a sleep over. It will be so fun I'm making her a cherry ice marshmallow. Yummmmmmm!

I slept over at someone's house last night.  Her mom highlighted my hair blonde and pink.

New Pet

Recently I found a tree frog at our local pool.
I was the only one willing to take it. We were invited after swim time to help put the cover on the pool. I put it in an aquarium.

Hi my name is Iris Atkins. Today I will be starting a blog.

                What inspired me to write a blog?   My cousin. You might

have seen his blog;    Here We Go.  Well, I will tell you a little about myself.

            I am 9 years old and all my life I have been writing poems and stories.

In my free time I like to do gymnastics. I live in a small town in Ohio.

            I would like to dedicate this blog to my 2^nd grade teacher, Mrs. Bowers. She always made me work hard to reach new goals to write.
